Course Content

Infection Control is mandatory and aimed at all staff working in a healthcare environment including hospitals, residential and nursing homes, domiciliary care agencies, dental surgeries and GP Practices. All healthcare professionals and workers have a duty of care to those in their care and to protect themselves. 
This course will enable the students to state the responsibilities and obligations that should be performed when dealing with infection control issues. They will be able to understand the importance of why we need to have infection control implemented in the workplace. 

In addition, they will be able to demonstrate and explain good hand washing techniques along with having an understanding of maintaining a clean and sterile environment using infection control procedures.

Legislation and management of infection control in the UK 
Practising infection control 
Universal precautions 
Infection and its causes 
How infection spreads and how to fight infection 
Making and breaking the chain of infection 
MRSA and C Diff 
Personal health and hygiene, including hand washing techniques 
Keeping a clean working environment 
Identify when and how infection can be transmitted through the chain of infection 
Identify the importance of hand washing, when and how to wash hands 
Understand the importance of standard and universal precautions 
Aware of waste disposal issues 

ASSESMENT

The trainer will check understanding, involvement and the ability of all students throughout the duration of the course.

CERTIFICATION

On successful completion of the course students will receive a certificate which is valid for 1 year.
